Investor’s Tip: Why You Need Retirement Goals

German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche once said, ‘He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.’ If you haven’t yet established your retirement goals and why you have determined those goals specifically, it may be difficult to achieve a retirement that you will fully enjoy. Knowing what you want out of your retirement years is an important step in figuring out how to achieve your retirement goals. While your retirement goals may change now and then because life’s circumstances are ever-changing, the important thing to remember is your end purpose—a successful retirement. Saving to your 401(k) at a rate appropriate for your goals, seeking advice from a financial advisor and periodically evaluating your retirement goals are great steps toward reaching a successful retirement. If you have not done so yet, set your retirement goals and understand why they are important to you so that both your retirement planning and your actual retirement are enjoyable and endurable.
